About the role
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and reliable band 5 Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our anaesthetic and recovery team.
Our recovery areas covers 5 areas across the QHB site supporting 15 theatres providing first stage recovery to patients who have undergone a variery of surgery specilities including Trauma & Orthopaedics, General surgery, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, ENT, Urology, to name but a few.
This role covers a 24/7 service with the expectation that the successful applicant supports this.
Previous experience of working in recovery, surgery or a critical care area is preferable but not essential. Must possess excellent communication skills.
Full support and training package provided for qualified staff.

Working as part of the Multi Disciplinary Theatre team.
Work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
Ensure high standards of care in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
Provide a safe environment to care for the unconscious patient, maintenance of airways and observations of vital signs. Identify surgical or anaesthetic complications.
Provide pain management, fluid replacement, wound care as necessary.
To assess plan, implement and evaluate surgical/anaesthetic/recovery care in a safe caring environment in which to meet the patient’s needs.
Maintaining their dignity throughout the total episode of care.
Provide individualised care, acting as the patient’s advocate in all matters relating to care given in a multidisciplinary environment within agreed policies and procedures
