We are seeking an experienced Weekend Freight Operations Coordinator to support one of our established refrigerated freight accounts. This role is focused on transportation operations, shipment visibility, customer communication, and resolving service issues as they arise during weekend coverage.
For the right individual, this position offers the opportunity to expand into additional responsibilities and potentially transition into a full-time Freight Broker or Operations role.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and track active refrigerated shipments throughout the weekend.
- Communicate shipment status updates with customers and carriers.
- Obtain and distribute Proofs of Delivery (PODs) after deliveries are completed.
- Respond to transportation delays, service issues, and customer requests.
- Coordinate replacement carriers when necessary to maintain service.
- Update load information and shipment notes within Ascend TMS.
- Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, dispatchers, and drivers.
- Help ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through timely communication and problem resolution.
Schedule
- Weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday)
- Candidates should be available to respond to transportation issues that arise during their scheduled weekend coverage.
- Workload will vary based on shipment activity.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, dispatch, carrier sales, logistics coordination, or truckload operations.
- Working knowledge of truckload transportation.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working independently.
- Reliable internet connection and home office environment.
Preferred
- Experience with refrigerated (reefer) freight.
- Experience using Ascend TMS.
- Experience using DAT Load Board.
- Carrier sourcing and negotiation experience.
- Transportation problem-solving and service recovery experience.
