Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN - Telemetry for a busy 23-bed medical surgical unit requiring 2 years of experience and KY or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Care for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients, with some overflow from medicine units
- Fast-paced unit typically receiving 10-20 post-op admissions per day
- Unit includes cardiac and O2 monitoring capability
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Floating required to other units within skillset, including affiliate hospitals nearby
Requirements
- Active KY or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty required
- Both medical and surgical nursing skillset required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry remote monitoring
- Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and tracheostomy care
- Experience with GI feeding tube care and management
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Must pass an EKG exam during onboarding
- At least 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a diverse post-surgical patient population
- First-time travelers will be considered only if they have several years of experience caring for post-op orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgery patients
- Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Returning permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; requests made afterward will not be approved
