Position: Summer Teacher/Tutor
Summary
Summer program is one of Korean American Family Service Center's major programs serving children, aged 10 to 14 (5th to 9th grades) who are from low-income Korean America or diverse family backgrounds. The core goal is to provide academic, social, emotional and psychological support in a culturally and linguistically appropriate setting, while comprehensively supporting their parents and families.
Summer teacher/Tutor will manage and supervise children and implements appropriate curriculum on a daily basis. This position will work independently by following standard practice and procedures to lead engaging academic, emotional and social enrichment activities.
Working Hours:
- Monday ~ Friday: 10am ~ 12pm
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans.
- Provide tutoring services to recently arrived immigrant students to support their English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency development.
- Provide SHSAT and SAT tutoring for academically advanced students.
- Implement effective discipline techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times, and take appropriate Corrective action to prevent injuries and accidents.
- Interact professionally and appropriately with parents and school staff.
- Respond to inquiries from parents in a timely and professional manner.
Qualification
- Eligible to work in US
- Current college student or graduates
- Prior teaching/tutoring experience is preferred
- Experienced teacher with class management skill is preferred
- Knowledge base of the SAT/SHSAT
- Excellent presentation skills and oral/communication skills appropriate/relevant to test type and students
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
