Research Assistant

Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract to join the research project at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support ongoing translational research projects bridging basic science and clinical application. The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory-based studies involving molecular biology techniques and animal models. This role is ideal for candidates interested in gaining hands-on experience in pre-clinical research and advanced laboratory methodologies.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants should have a master’s degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualification

• Master’s degree in biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with PCR, ELISA, or similar molecular techniques
• Experience working with laboratory animals is highly desirable
• Familiarity with microsurgical procedures or willingness to be trained
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
  
  

Expected Skills

• Perform routine and advanced molecular biology techniques, including:
• Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR)
• Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)
• Sample preparation, processing, and data recording
• Conduct and assist with animal experiments in compliance with institutional and ethical guidelines:
• Handling, monitoring, and care of laboratory animals
• Performing procedures including injections, tissue collection, and microsurgical techniques
• Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records, databases, and experimental logs
• Assist in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results
• Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and cleanliness of laboratory equipment
• Follow all biosafety, chemical safety, and animal welfare regulations
• Support preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts as needed
  
  

Salary Range

4000 to 5000 AED based on Experinace
