Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) is seeking a research assistant (RA) to recruit patients to participate in a study. The RA will approach patients in the clinic waiting room Monday – Wednesday for approximately 20 weeks between July – November 2026. The RA will approach abortion patients and ask if they are interested in participating in the 20-minute study about reproductive health. The RA will explain study participation and answer any questions about informed consent; track participants on a recruitment log; conduct short, structured interviews with participants; and enter clinical data into a database.
ANSIRH is a collaborative research group at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and a program of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace. ANSIRH conducts innovative, rigorous, multidisciplinary research on complex issues related to people’s sexual and reproductive lives and envisions a world in which all people have the resources, support, and freedom to achieve reproductive well-being.
Duties include:
- Approaching patients in the clinic waiting room
- Explaining the study to participants and answering their questions
- Maintaining a detailed study log
- Conducting a short verbal assessment and interview with participants
- Providing support as participants complete self-guided surveys on an iPad
- Entering clinical data into a REDCap database for each participant at the end of the day
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field, or relevant education and experience
- Comfort with interacting with patients in an abortion clinic waiting room
- Comfort working in an environment in which abortion is discussed regularly
- Basic research skills, including experience obtaining informed consent and tracking study participants and study IDs
- Fluency in English and Spanish
