About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, robust individual to join our Chemotherapy Unit team at Burton Hospital as a Receptionist. This is a job share role, working Tuesday - Thursdays.
As a key member of a dynamic team, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and families, providing a welcoming and professional reception service. You will support the outpatient nursing and medical teams to ensure excellent patient experience.
Managing the reception area independently
Booking in patients using Meditech V6 (experience desirable but training provided)
Liaising with patients, families, and staff in person and by telephone
Providing a high standard of administrative support
Managing enquiries effectively, escalating where necessary, and keeping accurate records
Prioritising your own workload to meet departmental standards and deadlines
Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
Ensuring a clear and accurate handover each week for your job share colleague
Supporting general administrative tasks, including stationery and supplies
We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable, and patient-focused
Flexible in their working approach and able to adapt to the needs of the service
Organised with strong attention to detail
Confident using IT systems and able to learn new applications quickly
A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

An average of 1115 patients are seen in A&Es across our network every day – 3rd largest in the country.
Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily.
Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.
We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres.
We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day.
