About the role
The Department of Pathology is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to perform phlebotomy/specimen collection, and a variety of laboratory tasks related to phlebotomy: labeling specimens, telephone inquiries, and distribution of phlebotomy supplies. This position is 50 %- time, Saturday and Sunday from 1300-2330.
Duties To Include
- Perform phlebotomy draws.
- Perform computer data entry and other clerical tasks as required.
- Order, receive, and distribute supplies.
- Respond to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represent assigned and related work areas.
The Department of Pathology is part of UI Health Care, a comprehensive health sciences center that serves Iowa and the region, as well as patients referred from the United States and overseas. Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Previous public contact/customer service experience.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or previous phlebotomy experience is desirable.
- Minimum 6 months previous experience working in a healthcare setting is desirable.
- Basic computer skills are desirable.
- Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment is desirable.
- Previous patient contact experience is desirable.
- Previous experience performing phlebotomy in a neonatal and/or pediatric setting is desired.
