LIBRARY ASSOCIATE II (Children and Teen Services)

Salary:

Plans and presents dynamic children's story time classes, crafts, and other activities that blend Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) components to enhance creativity and foster a passion for learning. Provides readers’ advisory services for children, parents, and caregivers. Conducts bibliographic searches and operates audiovisual equipment. Assists library members in finding reference materials for homework assignments/other projects and demonstrates how to access electronic reference products through the internet.


QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:


  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours),


OR


  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library,


OR


  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a library.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in teaching/early childhood education/storytelling,
  • Experience with public speaking/conducting presentations,
  • Knowledge of children’s literature (must specify on application), and

  • Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
