Position Summary
Elite Preparatory Academy is seeking a talented, creative, and student-centered Art Teacher to join our faculty. We welcome applications from candidates interested in either full-time or part-time employment.
This position is ideal for an experienced art educator or practicing artist who enjoys mentoring motivated high school students. A major focus of this role is helping students build exceptional portfolios for admission to competitive colleges, universities, and art schools.
Responsibilities
- Teach high school visual arts courses
- Develop engaging, project-based lessons that foster creativity and technical growth
- Introduce students to a variety of artistic media, techniques, and artistic movements
- Provide individualized instruction based on each student’s interests and artistic goals
- Guide students through the creative process from concept to finished work
- Organize student exhibitions and showcases
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment
College Portfolio Development
One of the most important responsibilities of this position is mentoring students through the college portfolio process.
The successful candidate will:
- Help students develop competitive portfolios for admission to leading colleges, universities, and art schools
- Mentor students pursuing majors in Fine Arts, Architecture, Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Photography, Interior Design, and related creative fields
- Provide individualized critiques and portfolio reviews
- Assist students in selecting, refining, and presenting their strongest work
- Help students prepare artist statements and portfolio presentations
- Stay informed about portfolio expectations and admissions requirements at competitive art and design programs
Preferred Areas of Expertise
Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Ceramics
- Mixed Media
- Photography
- Digital Art
- Graphic Design
- Illustration
- Animation
- AP Art and Design
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design, Design, or a related field
- Teaching experience preferred
- Strong artistic portfolio
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Passion for inspiring young artists
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing students for college portfolio reviews and admissions
- Experience teaching AP Art and Design
- Professional experience as a practicing artist, designer, illustrator, photographer, architect, or creative professional
- Experience working with international students
