Job Summary
A leading company in Bahrain is seeking an experienced GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) Engineer to manage the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of 220kV & 66kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in high-voltage substations, power transmission & distribution projects, and hands-on expertise with GIS equipment supplied by leading OEMs.
Position Details
- Position: GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) Engineer
- Vacancies: 01
- Install, test, commission, operate, and maintain 220kV & 66kV GIS systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of GIS equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify faults in GIS, high-voltage switchgear, and associated electrical systems.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, CTs, PTs, busbars, and switchgear.
- Execute insulation resistance, contact resistance, timing, SF6 gas leakage, and functional testing.
- Read and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and project teams during installation and commissioning activities.
- Prepare maintenance schedules, technical reports, testing records, and commissioning documentation.
- Ensure compliance with international standards, project specifications, and electrical safety regulations.
- Supervise technicians and contractors while maintaining project quality and safety standards.
- Bachelor's Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in the Operation, Maintenance, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of 220kV & 66kV GIS.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in GIS installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience with OEMs or OEM Channel Partners is mandatory.
- Experience with 33/11kV Metal Clad Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, and Busbars is an added advantage.
- GCC or international utility experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology.
- Expertise in Protection & Relay Testing.
- Experience with High Voltage (HV) Electrical Equipment.
- Knowledge of Power Transmission & Distribution Systems.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on HV systems.
- Strong understanding of IEC, IEEE, and other international electrical standards.
- Excellent project planning, supervision, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in reading electrical drawings, SLDs, and engineering documentation.
- Salary: BD 700–900 + Overtime (Negotiable based on experience).
