The Centre Region Council of Governments is accepting applications for the position of Fire & Life Safety Inspector/Firefighter, for Centre Region Code Administration & Centre Region Fire Protection Program, which serves seven municipalities (population of 100,000) in Centre County.

The Fire and Life Safety Inspector/Firefighter – Existing Structures position is responsible for a wide array of duties and responsibilities relating to the enforcement, interpretation, and application of building codes, fire codes, safety programs, etc. In addition to inspecting existing residential and commercial properties in the Centre Region, the position performs a variety of enforcement, education, inspecting, fire safety, and related functions. The position conducts special inspections relating to the safety and habitability of a structure following a fire or other event involving a compromise of the structure. Responsibilities also include after-hours and weekend support to the Alpha Fire Company as a Driver/Operator or Firefighter. This is an in-person position and physical presence on-site is an essential function.

Qualifications

• A valid PA driver’s license is required and must be maintained.
• Must be 21 years of age to drive apparatus.
• Criminal background checks and PA Child Abuse History Certification are required.
• Basic First Aid, AED, and CPR certificates required.
• Firefighter I, Hazardous Material Operations, and National Incident Management System (NIMS) 700, Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 required.
• Experience operating a truck and trailer, driving and operating fire apparatus.
