English Teacher (ESL) for Kids (Ages 5–16) — Contract (1099)

Location: Buffalo Grove (In-Person)

Pay: Starting at $25/hour (based on students per lesson)

About the Role

We’re a learning center in Buffalo Grove looking for an energetic, patient English teacher to work with non-native English speaking students (ages 5–14). You’ll teach small groups and 1:1 sessions using structured lessons focused on speaking, reading, writing, and confidence.

What You’ll Do

• Teach ESL / ELL students ages 5–14 in small groups and/or 1:1
• Build lessons around conversation, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing
• Use age-appropriate activities (games, role-play, visuals, phonics, etc.)
• Track progress and give quick feedback to parents (simple notes / updates)
• Keep classes fun, structured, and supportive

What We’re Looking For

• Experience teaching kids (classroom, tutoring, learning center, or similar)
• Comfortable teaching non-native students (ESL/ELL experience is a plus)
• Strong communication skills, patience, and positive classroom presence
• Reliable schedule and professional attitude
• Ability to pass a background check (if required)

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• ESL certification, TEFL/TESOL, or education background
• Experience with phonics for younger kids and academic writing for teens
• Bilingual is a plus (not required)

Schedule

• After-school hours and/or weekends (exact schedule flexible)
• Consistent weekly availability preferred

• Starts at $25/hour
