About the role

About CODED

CODED is the first tech and AI academy in the Arab world. We build real technical capability — software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data science — for individuals, youth, and enterprises across the region.

On the enterprise side, our clients are banks, ministries, corporates and family businesses trying to close a skills gap in their teams. They aren't buying a course. They're buying a result — and they decide based on how well we understand their problem and how clearly we write it back to them.

We hire for talent density, not headcount. We want people who are excellent at what they do and who raise the standard of everyone around them.

About the role

We're hiring a Business Development Officer to turn conversations with companies into signed deals.

You'll sit at the front of our enterprise pipeline. You'll own smaller deals yourself — from the first email through to the proposal, the pitch, the negotiation and the close. On the larger and more complex deals, the BD Manager leads and you do the research, the structure and the writing that make them winnable.

The core skill in this job is writing proposals. Everything else supports it. If a client reads our proposal and thinks "these people actually understood my problem," you've done the job. If they read it and see a generic training brochure, you haven't.

This is a role for someone two to four years into their career who wants to build real commercial craft — writing, pitching and closing — while working directly under an experienced BD Manager.

What you'll do

Proposals and written work (the core of the job)

  • Write proposals in professional English that are clear, persuasive and technically accurate
  • Take what a client tells you about their problem and turn it into a proper programme — the objectives, what the client walks away with, how it's structured, and what it costs
  • Make the document itself look good. Formatting, structure and presentation are part of the pitch, not an afterthought.
  • Build and maintain a proposal library and template set so we're not starting from a blank page every time
  • Handle RFPs and government tenders: read every requirement, answer all of it, submit before the deadline
  • Work with our education and curriculum teams so that what we promise in a proposal is what we can actually deliver

Outreach and pipeline

  • Research target companies, sectors and the people who make the decisions
  • Run structured outreach — email, LinkedIn, calls, events — to open new conversations
  • Qualify leads properly before they take up the team's time
  • Keep the CRM accurate: every contact, meeting, stage and next step logged
  • Watch what competitors are doing and report it back
  • Stay in touch with people so CODED is the first call when a budget opens up

Pitching and closing

  • Prepare and deliver client presentations
  • Talk credibly about software engineering, AI, cybersecurity and data — and say "let me check with our education team" when you don't know, rather than guessing in front of a client
  • Own your own deals from start to finish: qualify, propose, pitch, negotiate, close
  • Support the BD Manager on the big deals with research, materials and follow-through
  • Hand closed deals over to operations cleanly so delivery starts without a mess
  • Follow up relentlessly. Most deals are lost to silence, not to a competitor.

What you need (required)

  • Excellent written English. This is the one thing we will not compromise on, and we will test it.
  • Fluent Arabic and English — you'll be writing in English and meeting clients in both
  • 2–4 years in business development, sales, consulting, or a proposal/bid role
  • Comfortable with technical vocabulary — you can hold a conversation about software engineering, AI, cybersecurity or data with a client's IT director without bluffing, and you're honest about what you don't know
  • Strong document craft. Your proposals and decks look professional — structure, formatting, and how it reads on the page.
  • You use AI tools in your work to research, draft and move faster
  • Confident and professional in front of senior client stakeholders. You should enjoy being in the room, not endure it.
  • Disciplined with CRM hygiene and follow-up. Nothing goes cold because you forgot.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Based in Kuwait and able to work on-site

Nice to have

  • Experience selling to Kuwaiti or GCC corporates, banks, or government entities — a strong advantage
  • Experience with RFPs, tenders, or public-sector procurement
  • A background in business, engineering or IT
  • Experience selling training, consulting, or another service where the client is buying an outcome rather than a product
  • Experience selling to HR or L&D departments specifically
  • You've worked with a real CRM and kept it clean
  • Experience writing in Arabic to a professional standard as well as English

Experience:

  • Business Development/ Sales: 2 years (Required)

Work Location: In person
